For me one of the best
things about getting older is losing my self-consciousness. In the past I
would be bothered by what people thought about me, the clothes I wore and
the things I said. Now as I’m older I care far less about those things as I
have come to realise that being your self is the most important part of
living life and not living to please others. In fact the realisation that it
doesn’t matter to other people either is a massively freeing mindset. I used
to rehearse what I was about to say to people and I’m sure it came across a
bit strange.
Now I am relaxed in myself
I just go with the flow and my conversations are far more interesting. Now I
almost sit back and wait to see what pops out of my mouth, as I trust my
subconscious mind knows what I want to convey. If people like me that’s
fine, if they don’t that’s fine too. I wont lose any sleep over it. I won’t
change my personality to please others if they don’t like me when they meet
me then I can live with that. You may find that you are spending a lot of
energy wondering what people think of you. The reality is that they not
giving it half as much attention as you are. This is because they are busy analysing themselves just like you do to yourself!
Why not decide today to show the world the
real you, who you really are rather than the person you think others expect
you to be? Isn’t there a person inside who is dying to get out? How long
have you been suppressing yourself? How long have you been living a lie?
Don’t let the fear of what others might think stop you from being who you
really are at the heart. They don’t care anyway!!!! Why not wake up tomorrow
and be and say what you want? Haven’t you waited too long to be true to
yourself? If people don’t like it or are surprised then that’s their issue.
I implore you to be who you are rather
than going through your usual routine just because you think people expect
it. When you don’t give a damn you really are living a free life. That
doesn’t mean you don’t care its actually quite the opposite it just means
that you are offering the world the real you and they can take it or leave
it. What have you got to lose, what’s the alternative?
