Sports
performance
Whether or not a person is gifted with natural
ability or not, a person cannot get to the top of their profession with out
a strong mind. The difference between first and second place is the mindset
of the person. The person who cracks under the strain can lose because the
their mental preparation was not conducive with winning. Instead of planning
to win or succeed people often allow themselves to be influenced by the
negative “chatter” of their conscious mind.
These thoughts however innocent in appearance
are detrimental and have a corrosive effect on the spirit causing certain
failure in the sporting endeavour. A strong “No Doubt” mindset as is
outlined in The Principles of Life book is needed if you are looking to
excel in your sports performance. It’s not enough to hope or leave it to
the “lap of the Gods” you must mentally prepare if you are seriously wanting
to compete at the top level. Thinking you can miss out this important step
is naive. If you think you can please call round to my house I have some
fairy dust to sell you!
In order to compete at the top level you cannot have your conscious mind
running the show. Your conscious mind will find fault in yourself and
affect your sports performance as the over analysis goes into overdrive.
When it does self-doubt creeps in and starts to eat away at your
self-confidence. An athlete must have total self-confidence to succeed. You
must dismiss all negative thoughts if success is your aim. You cannot
afford to let them into your mindset. How you can learn to do this is
explained explicitly and easily in chapter 2 of my book
The Principles of Life.
Your conscious mind by nature is a
fault-finding mind where as your subconscious holds your wisdom. A person
must make the switch to becoming a subconscious thinker if they want to be a
winner. Do you think that Tiger Woods is a conscious mind thinker or do you
think he uses his subconscious wisdom? Do you think that before he goes out
to play he thinks of all the worst-case scenarios and runs them around in
his mind before a tournament? Of course not, Tiger knows that if he wants
to win he has to think he can win so he dismisses any negative chatter of
the conscious mind and lets his wisdom take over. Tiger is the boss of his
thoughts.
Solution
How many times do you here people say “I knew today would be an off day”
and then it is? When you say something like that what it really means is
that you planned it that way. Never go into any venture thinking the worst
because that thought will create the failure. You must train your mind just
as the other top athletes have trained theirs if you are serious about
competing in your chosen field and improving your sports performance.
Why do most athletes have “mind coaches” these
days? It is because the difference between first and second place is
getting so tight that the smallest edge can make the difference. Detailed
advice on improving your sports performance and dismissing negative
self-talk is included in the powerhouse book of the millennium
The Principles of Life. Inside
the book it details how you can with each chapter improve and strengthen
your mindset so that you control your thoughts. In order to be your best you
must learn to block the negative chatter of the conscious mind and program
your mind for success with powerful mental rehearsal technology. Exercises
for mental rehearsal future programming and Thought Re-training are
throughout the book. It really is the best solution for you if seeing me
personally is not possible.
I won’t say good luck because luck has nothing
to do with it. I will say instead though I wish you the very best with
whatever you decide.
