Your questions answered

How should I read the book?

Like it says in the opening pages it has to be read from start to finish. It’s no god just picking bits out here and there and hoping it will sink in.  The book is a total program and should be read a chapter at a time. If you are a fast reader then a chapter a day is fine but don’t over do it. Every word in the book is written specifically for your mental absorption so don’t go too fast. Every word is important and was written in a special way so that it will be retained. Nothing is padded out. Everything is important and should be read. Some people find that it is on the second read that it comes together for them. In fact I received a letter recently saying that after the first read he didn’t think it was that great. Three months later he read it again and he said it was the best book he had ever read. Sometimes you have to be ready to change.

What about the exercises should I do them all?

This is a question I get asked about time and time again. Some of the exercises will not be relevant for you, in other words they won’t apply to you. There are 13 exercises covering many different facets of human self-improvement, some of them though, you will already be using automatically. Some of them you don’t need, others you definitely will. Just use the exercises that you think relate to your shortcomings. I included so many exercises so that I could show you a way of improving as many of life’s challenges as I could. Most of the exercises need to be used every day for a while to reprogram the old ways out.

I’m confused about the changing bad habits exercise in chapter 1 what should I do?

If you have had any previous difficulties with self-harm do not do this exercise. In the book it mentions that you should nip parts of your body “so that it hurts”. This wording is wrong and in hindsight I should have wrote, “to cause slight discomfort”. You should in no way hurt yourself if you use this procedure. If you are unsure leave it out. I have had good feedback from people who have used this technique especially those who want to lose weight so it is quite powerful. The idea is to create “emotional pain” by combining thought and discomfort to the bad behaviour that you have. Every time you use this procedure when you have an urge to do the bad behaviour it changes the way your mind thinks about it.

Which are the most important chapters to read?

All of them. The first 2 chapters build the foundations for your life and give you the most important instructions in the whole book. Don’t rush the first 2 chapters they are the cornerstones for your total success in life. They need to be installed in to your soul! The other chapters are what I call “the essential maintenance chapters” where in order to maintain the first 2 principles the other 6 chapters information must be understood. Like a car though you have to maintain it with regular services you must review the principles monthly to keep on the right track. You don’t just read them once and then hope they will sin in forever. It’s best to read chapters from time to time throughout the year after you have read the whole book.

I have read the book but nothing has changed?

That is because not only do you have to read it you must also APPLY the knowledge for it to be effective. I know how to drive a car but if I don’t get in and drive it, it won’t go! The same applies to the principles. It usually isn’t enough just to know them intellectually, you must act upon them to see some new results. You will get out of the book what you put in. Remember principle one? You are responsible for you life so don’t blame the book. I get letters every day telling me that the book has helped to make somebody's life better so I know the information is sound. Get back to chapter one and start it again. Stop looking for a magic wand, your future and life is in your hands the book is a road map to greater living but you must then get into the car and drive it. Nothing will happen if you don't get off your butt and follow the instructions.

I am in a hopeless state can the book really work?

The book can help tremendously sometimes even more so when you are in a state. The reason you are in a state is because you can’t find a way out of your troubles. The book is like a map, a map to show you how to break free of your negative thinking! It’s not just about “positive thinking” though it’s about changing your faulty though processes so that you feel and think better. Your thoughts are what cause the problems, the principles help you to control and improve the quality of your thoughts. If you don’t know how to do that, that’s when you get stuck. Hopeless is a mindset and not a reality. Change your mindset and you will change your reality. Trust the knowledge in the book as it is 100% sound.

I've made good improvements since reading the book how long will they last?

Think about the principles like this: If you went to the gym regularly for a couple of months and got into good shape. How long would it take if you stopped going for you to lose your fitness and muscle tone? Probably after a couple of weeks later you would find yourself slipping wouldn't you. The same applies to the principles. If you've had problems for a while, say years or even most of your life it is unrealistic to think you can apply the principles for a few weeks and then be fine for the rest of your life then after. You must study the principles and  use them everyday until they become second nature and a part of your every day mindset. Even though you will find good early results to make them an  mindset where you live by them automatically it could take a year depending on how much you need to improve. To keep on the right path we must all use them forever and refer back to them periodically to keep them fresh in our minds.
