Bulimia
With the
bulimic there are basically two types of sufferer. The first type is the
person who believes that they are fat when they are in fact very slim. This
person believes that if they eat they will become fat or even fatter than
what they already think they are. Which is true, but the person is in this
dilemma must begin to put on weight again to regain their health. Obviously
it’s one of the hardest things in the world to tell the person who suffers
with bulimia that they need to gain weight. The problem is that the sufferer
fears gaining weight in the first place. The person facing this problem
lives their lives in frustration and fear.
The
second type of sufferer is the person who may be overweight and they are
trying to lose weight threw vomiting. They binge eat to the point of being
bloated or feeling sick and then they start the cycle of regret and negative
self analysis and then probably run to the toilet to be sick. This person
lives in a world of negative self-image and internal persecution. The strain
of it all causes them to binge eat to try to find some relief from the
stress and then afterwards becoming racked with guilt and throwing up. The
person who sufferers from this lives a life of total self dislike and
probably hates their own body.
Whether
or not you are one of the above or indeed know somebody who sufferers from
bulimia it is always down to the same cause in every case. It is due to the
inability to run one’s mind correctly. I say inability but this is not
entirely the truth. It would be more accurate to say that the person who
sufferers from bulimia has not learned the way to do it rather than not
being able to do it. You see if you don’t know how to do it or if you didn’t
even know that it was possible to do then you just go along with your own
program. What I am saying is that in order to change these negative state of
affairs a new mental program must be put in place, which might sound
difficult but in reality it is easier than you might think with the right
guidance and knowledge.
Bulimia
is quite tricky as the person who sufferers from it are almost certainly in
the grip of their conscious mind and the relentless negative analytical
chatter it spouts. The first step on the road to recovery is to control that
chatter. This is done via thought re-training, which can either be taught by
myself personally or via The Principles of Life book, which is available on
this site. After that process is under control a whole new positive image
can be installed with the new beliefs and philosophies installed to help
build the new foundations for a new you. This might sound like a massive
effort but what’s the alternative? It takes a lot of effort to be a bulimic
doing all the things a bulimic does. It will take a lot of effort to become
this new you but it will take no more effort than you are already using, it
just takes a little time to reverse the habit of bulimia.
You see
the thing with habits is that when you don’t do them it can seem strange,
even though you didn’t like doing the habit. You just feel like doing it
because you have always done it. That’s the thing with habits. The thing
with habits is that they can be broken; if they can be created they can be
destroyed. The more you don’t practice them the less power they have until
they eventually fade away. Like giving up cigarettes for the first few weeks
your habit tells you it’s time to smoke with your coffee but after a while
you forget you ever did it. The same can be true of bulimia.
